Thanked: 18Clara is in Chile
Hello everyone:
What makes us desire for an object, in this case a straight razor?
On Ebay I found a Solingen’s razor named Clara. The pictures looks great and also I found very good references for the seller (Quinton or Cedarfurnitureman).
I was excited about it and i decided to take a chance.
Fortunately I won.
Today I got my first shave with Clara and I enjoy a lot.
Thanks again Quinton.
Now I know what shave ready means.
Interestingly I found on this site an old thread in which they seem to talk about Clara.
http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...le-custom.html
For the arguments given there I can add the desire to have and know what it is a shave ready razor and the excitement of the auction.
Finally, and not least, my granddaughter name is Clara.
Have a nice weekend.
(And once again excuse mistakes in language)

nice razor, i think ERN had the sword trademark too (crown&sword is much more popular)

100, that's a beautiful find of a razor! ebay is a little scary and from what knowledge I've gathered from this forum (I'm a newbie), I'll stick to antique stores. How old is that Clara? It appears immaculate!

Thanked: 18Hi to all:
I think old objects has something to tell us.
Richljoey, I don't know how old is this razor but it is in very good shape. Perhaps has been restored, if so it was a great job. Thanks again.
I'm also intrigued about the maker. I agree with you Gugi, that the sword on tang is like ERN, but without the crown and a bit more simple.
And Clara, the boat stamped on blade. What is that?
I found a painting from Jacobsen, a danish-american artist with a barque named The Clara. It is like the ship stamped on blade.
but also i found a ship Clara wich transport convicts from London to Autralia.Passenger List - Clara, Southampton to Adelaide, 1859
So, added to the pleasure from the shaving those questions give interest for me this day.
Greetings from Santiago.

Thanks 100. I find these razors mysterious and amazing. I mean, we're all generally collecting and using artifacts, and for the most part, the collection process has been relatively cheap (I like to build street cars), and very satisfying!
