J.Elliot Best Silver Steel arrived today..
Got a nice surprise when I got home today, Mr Postie had been and it wasn't a bill - it was my ebay winnings
First thing I did was open up the package and inspect the blade - looked better than in the ebay pics so the the next thing I did was to take some pics.
The blade sits nice and tight in the scales and there aren't any jimps at all on the edge itself. The only thing that needs doing is the rust needs taking off and just giving a general clean up.
To say I'm quite chuffed at spending only a fiver is an understatement.
I wouldn't mind knowing how old it is but after seeing this..

nice razor. Just an observation, based on the tang, tail, and stamp, I'm fairly positive that this razor has been re-ground, likely by a master craftsman somewhere around the turn of the century. It likely began life as a wedge. I think a lot of guys got taken in by the hollow grind fad and had their old blades re-ground back then for a cheaper price than buying a new blade. Certainly doesn't detract from its ability to shave well, and at the price its a steal. I may be wrong, just an opinion!

After looking at pics of other ones similar to this I think you may be right there Brad. I was surprised it wasn't more wedge like when I got it.
