    Default My Current Razor

Found this in a desk drawer in my house. It was my grandfather's that he used I don't know how many decades ago. I thought I would try it and got hooked. It is a 5/8 extra hollow ground by American Razor Company in New York. Not sure about their reputation.

I cleaned up the blade a ton once I decided to dedicate myself to using straights. You can still see quite a bit of tarnish and crap on the tang compared to the blade and shank. It's nothing terribly special other than it was my grandfather's. I think the scales are just plastic, and the pivot is a tiny bit loose. But overall it seems to shave pretty well for me.

Dude, even if you acquire ten thousand razors, this will still be your most special one.

    Great story, and good luck!

Maybe I worded it wrong. It's special to me, just nothing fancy like some that I've seen on here with elaborate scales and stuff. But yeah, I like it. I'm about to retire it because I don't want to take the chance of anything happening to it. Living in a college dorm and all.
