Thanked: 983Got a Gotta
I checked out an antique store a few weeks back in another city and saw a Gotta for sale for $24 and two Rolls Razors, with only one being complete and in good condition. I thought both the Rolls were over-priced and left them there. The Gotta, I thought was in good condition...Far from Pristine, but certainly restorable. However I left it there, as I didn't really need another razor. I did, however, tell my friends, living in that part of the world, about it. Just in case they might be interested.
I had reason to go back over the weekend and called up one of my mates to say I'd be visiting. I said I had thought some more, as that damned razor was playing on my mind, and had decided to see if it was still there.
He told me he had already been in to have a look and that the razor had been sold! Bugger!
He neglected to mention that he had bought it as a gift for me! God it's good to have great mates.

Thanked: 227As I said in your show and tell psot, this will be a good shaver, and a good story to add to it I bought mine from an old guy who uses the same barber as me, with the instruction I could have it if I looked after it and used it, both of which I'm happy to say I do

Very nice find Mick. I have been looking for a Gotta (on a off), ,but always ended up getting something else. Once of these days, I will break down and get me one too.
Thanks for sharing and getting the RAD fueled up again

Thanked: 983Just put it to the stones tonight and will give it a preliminary trial run in the morning. It may need a bit more on the stones yet as my honing is intermediate levels only. I can usually get my other razors shaving quite comfortably though with my, now rectified, honing pyramid (Thanks Oz). I'll let you all know how it goes. I haven't done anything to beautify this razor, just put steel to stone.
Thanks for all the responses alread, and those to come.
Mick
