    Default 7/8 + Hilger & Sons

Really surprised to find it as clean as it is, blade is like a 16th over 7/8, fairly sharp, flat scales and still has most of the bluing on tang and shoulder. Hilger & Sons, Remscheid-Germany on back side of shoulder, and an 80 plus a circle with an H and what looks like a tulip on face side of shoulder, hopefully will get her honed up for a shave drive tonight. Shipping was more than the price I paid for the Razor. 2.85 for razor !

Beautiful. Talk about 'under the radar', that is a steal ....... and quite a bit of steel there too .... if you don't mind the play on words.

At this rate, I'll have to hire 'Gill to find blades!

    'Very nice find. Outrageous price.

Today wasn't bad. '5/8 Wosty IXL 1/4 grind from the recently departed grandson of the original buyer in the original box. 'Well stored, with moderate hone wear.

5/8 Shumate 'Tungsteel' w/ a moderate smile and ZERO hone wear. (I LOVE american blades).

Then, a call from a friend saying he had found his Great Uncle's razor he wanted to give me. 'Was an import for a US company from a Soligen mfr. The blade has an image of 'two stick figures' and the word 'Twinworks' on the shank

I performed a search on Hilger & Sons to find this older thread. I'm new to the SRP forums.

My Dad picked up one of these exact models for me at a flea market for under $10. It is in excellent condition with the blue tang still unblemished. The blade has some minor pitting, but the scales are in great condition. I performed some basic polishing and honed it on a Norton 4k/8k. This thing shaves like a dream. It's my favorite razor.

It's also HIGHLY magnetic. I've read that may have be to prevent corrosion. Given the condition of the razor, it may actually work.
