Default Fairly Obscure Sheffield Cutler Now in Florida

I thought I'd pick up this scarce Lummus mentioned Sheffield razor and it arrived today safely from California. The potentially mismatched coffin box has a profile of George Washington and a Bald Eagle and Shield on it and simply the wording Washington and an initial W.S. under his profile. Maker is Jonathan Hunt and tang reads Jonathan Hunt Patent. Lummus states Jonathan Hunt Sheffield 1829-1837. Beautiful brown horn and Lead wedge. I was the sole bid on an ebay auction at $80.00 which I felt safe as it was a pretty dear price to pay for a simple Sheffield blade.

Really nice score! The blade looks great and the scales, at least the side visible in the photos, look excellent. Hope it hones up into a fine shaver. Just shaved with a very old Holley wedge this morning, and it gave me a smooth and very close shave.
