Would you or anyone know if its stainless steel, for such a old razor there's really no sign of rust or patina on it?

My guess is carbon steel, but I'm not for sure.

Very nice blade, well done. Do you have anything in mind for the scales?

    Thanks ,

Not sure about the scales yet, if the one wasn't crack I would of love to restore them, I've never made scales before , so I will either try my hand at scales or have the razor sent to have someone do it after I clean it up.

As for material for the scales I might just go with horn or some type of wood.

I will post pic's when I finally get around to all this.

Nice score. I doubt it's stainless steel due to the age of the razor. Stainless steel is a relatively new metal. I have seen a bunch of razors in similar condition and some much older. Some people just took really good care of them.

Those old Elliots are great shavers, I have had several with that same blade profile. Good find! It will need an expert honing, though. Not stainless, which makes honing a little easier, IMO.

I really love that one! Don't trash the scales...they might be able to have a restore job on them. Enjoy!
