I have recently been given this SR, it's pretty stiff to open and close, it's got a bit of rust around that area, but otherwise it seems to be in pretty decent nick.

I was think of e-mailing The Invisible Edge and sending it in to be cleaned and brought up to using standard. I just wanted to know if you think it is worth doing this...

The only thing that gives me pause is that there are several places where the bevel looks pretty pitted. Light pitting can be easily honed past. For that matter, really severe pitting can be honed past as long as there's good steel behind it. Where the question comes in, is that you have to consider how much edge you're going to lose and it's a bit hard to see in the photos.

Also, you might consider doing the clean-up yourself. It's easier than you think, and then it's just a matter of having it honed. There's a lot of guys in the classifieds that do excellent work.
