    Default Another good haul!

On a whim, I checked Craigslist and found an ad for old razors. The ad had no pictures, so I emailed the seller and we arranged to meet up for me to look at the razors. I jumped on this considering he is only 20min away.

He showed me a few blades, nothing too great. Then his wife comes by us and says, "I also have these, they were my grandfathers." That almost immediately put me off as I do not usually buy peoples heirlooms. Then I saw them.

Early 1900's 7/8 Montgomery Ward, Chicago IL, half-hollow, spike point
Beautiful condition almost no wear anywhere, all this one needs is to be honed. VERY heavy.

    15/16 Bengall, half hollow regrind?
This one was a bit odd. The heel of the blade looks like at one point or another was damaged and the damage was ground away. Whoever did this work did a great job, it is very smooth. The top of the scales by the pivot was snapped off. Minimal if any wear.

11/16 J.A. Henckels Twinworks #113 Roundpoint, Solingen Germany. Graef & Schmidt opposite side of tang.
This one is gorgeous. Same part of the scales was broken as the Bengall, but this blade is practically unused. There is no wear at all on the steel. Best of all, after 200laps on the latigo, it STILL shaves! I promptly removed the old broken scales and fitted the blade to a set of vintage tortoise shell scales I had laying around.

To make the journey even better, since the Montgomery Ward had no damage, they wanted $25, for the Bengall and Henckels were $5 each!! Great experience all around, couldn't have had a better day.

And go easy on me, that was the first pinning job I've done!
