Thanked: 18New Scores: Scuttle + Razor
Bought these at the flea-market today for $25.
Antique porcelain scuttle.
German-made straight-razor.
I cleaned the scuttle and sanded the razor. I then sharpened and stropped it and shaved with it. I think the results are damn good. The razor still looks a bit grungy though. so I'm going to see what some steel wool will do to it, in terms of restoring the shine to the blade.
Details...
Grind: Full Hollow.
Point: French.
Size: 5/8.
Jimps: Top & Bottom.
Shouldered. Two stablisers.
Scales: Celluloid; imitation ivory.

Looks like you made a good grab. It's hard to see the razor, but the scuttle is beautiful

Thanked: 18Thanks. Here's a couple of shots of the razor. Sanded, wooled, polished, honed, stropped...

Thanked: 18I bought the scuttle because it's light and easier to hold. And I think it looks nicer. My other scuttle is comparatively, much heavier and fiddlier to hold...and when you scuttle is full of super hot water, the last thing you want to do is burn yourself or drop the scuttle.
