Local flea market find, its a nice T.Noonan and sons Magnetized steel SR bought it cause it was from Boston. Got it home and saw a crack in the blade I'm going to try and hone it out but i dont know if i can save it

which direction and what location is the crack on the blade? If I am not mistaken, cracks generally take major surgery to correct. i.e. making a shorty

its a vertical split it runs up past the bevel the crack stops before halfway up the blade i could salvage it if i honed off a bit and made it short like you mentioned

I don't have any experience here but from other posts I've read, and if I'm seeing the picture correctly it looks like it may be very tough or impossible to save. It looks like the crack extends past the shoulder

yeah when I said make a shorty, that was in reference to the length of the blade, not the width. You would have to go down to a 2/8 size to hope to get that crack out. Sorry man, you might have a letter opener/paper weight on your hands. at least the scales look salvageable.

Yeah i was thinking of using the scales they look to be ivory but i havent tested them yet, I have another razor with generic black scale so i think im gonna swap them

I can almost say for sure they're not ivory, the grain looks too uniform. A lot of vintage razors used a faux ivory, I think that's what you've got there.

It looks to me that your best bet is to modify the heel. There is no way that I can see to correct this without making it "improper".

Yeah I was thinking about doing that but i don't have the knowledge to do such a task, my current thought is to salvage the parts and use metal finishing for another razor. been reading the wiki for ideas
