    Default My first straight... Bengall

Had a good day at an antique store yesterday, prowling for the stuff I like and came across a Bengall for $22 which seemed reasonable. Had a little VERY light rusting on the tang near the pivot and some gunky buildup/oxidation on the blade. A few minutes with the Dremel and buffing wheel had it looking almost brand new. There is a little ding in the edge out near the point, but overall it looks to be in good shape. Scales have some damage near the wedge but that's about it. The pics are from before doing any restoration. Just need to find someone to hone it for me and I'll be ready to shave with it, although then I have to buy strop, etc etc. LOL Will probably stick with DE razors but I think every man should be able to shave with a straight edge all the same! lol

Ohhh, a Bengall! It is your first and will likely be your last (to get rid of, that is..) That looks as a later one in fine shape. Get it honed properly!

That's a serious score--a Bengall in good shape for only $22! Bengalls are great razors--enjoy!

Congrats! Bengall's are some of my favorite razors. I've been addicted to Sheffield steel for a while now. Here is a picture of my Bengall, 15/16 heel re-grind.
