H. BOKER for restore
Here is a nice Boker with the etching still pretty good. What I like about this one is that the blade is a smaller size and I like the thumb notch. I have only shaved with one razor as of yet but I want to try some of the ones I am acquiring once they are restored and honed to shave readiness.
Here is some eye candy...
Any thoughts or suggestions?

IMHO, I probably would wait for a better restore candidate, one that needs it. From the pictures this looks like it can be cleaned up pretty easily and I think it's been honed more than once or twice. Just from the looks, it probably used to be a 5/8 blade. What is it now?
If you like the smaller blade, just polish it up with some MAAS or Mothers then get it honed as-is. I really like the scales and etching on this one.

I was thinking the same thing. I like it the way it is. It obviously has some years of use under it's belt. That being said, I have some Fitz metal polish at home and can try that.
Is there a difference between MAAS, Fitz, or Mother's that I should be aware of? I'll measure it and post the spec on the blade. But I'm gonna guess about 4/8 or 5/8.

I'm not sure if there is much of a difference with the polishes, I think for the most part people just use what is available to them. There may be slight differences but I doubt it would be anything drastic.

Gotta agree with the above....just spend some time polishing it up and get'r honed up and it will perform nice. I've got the same model and all I've done was to hit the scales and blade with a little metal polish.

sandpaper might not be the best idea if this is your first one. I've never used this method but it seems like it might be great for this particular blade, it was posted about a month ago:

also it looking at Red's boker, maybe it is the intended size? the styling looks weird and like it has been worn a bit but that might be how it was designed

+1 on skipping the sandpaper. That etching will be gone baby, gone.
