Nah mate. I've done my dash with the online auctions for the moment, prices have gone a bit silly for average steel. Finding better deals at antique shops and second hand dealers.

I've also noticed that the ones on Trade Me are going for moon money. I'm always getting out bid as well.

Yes you are right, though I will admit that this was me
FOUR ANTIQUE CUT THROAT RAZORS PLUS STONE | Trade Me

Stunning ww1 trench art/named Cut throat razor | Trade Me
Here was one that I watched last night (my offer was way off the mark). So glad that it didn't go to Australia, as there is a bit more of a story to it....
Aubrey Henry Fisher survived the war and returned to Dunedin, NZ (where I live) and at the age of 32 married Edith Margaret Dawson (she was 29) 1st october 1919 at the Dunedin First Church (large presbyterian church in the middle of town). He also began a small butchers shop in the main street of town. That butchers shop grew into 'Fishers Meats' which had a factory employing 24 staff and still owned and run by Aubreys' great grandchildren. At one point in time it was one of the most successfull small businesses of its kind in the country. Sadly two years ago the company found itself in recievership and it folded. My plan if I won the auction was to display the razor (completely unrestored) and return it to the family. Hopefully the new owner understands its significance (other than a war relic)

I like the Tonsor. I have an identical one, just with different engraving. Mine I inherited from my Grand Father so it's extra special to me.

    Cool

    Welcome to another Kiwi.
Looks like you well on your way, glad you're enjoying the journey.
Seems like there's a few from NZ here at present. We should try and get more people signed up with The Shaved Kiwi group.
