    Default Wade and Butcher

Just picked up a Wade and butcher, i should say i rescued it from a horrible antique store... my question is there is some pitting on the metal but i dont think i wanna remove it all because it gives the blade some character

What's the question? You made a statement. But, if I understand correctly, you want to clean it up but leave the pitting. Is that correct? If so, you can try sanding with high grit so as to leave the pits in there. Or you can use some flitz or maas and polish it up. Use some synthetic steel wool with the metal polish and it should clean up nicely.

I removed most of the pitting and tarnish using semi chrome and high grit sandpaper, i wanted to keep some of the pitting because there is a finger print in the center of the blade thats perfectly intact and i think its quite unique

Nice find! Looks to be a medium size hollow ground. Those shave great. Nice stiffer razors.

    I rest my case.

Nice rescue. You got yourself a keeper. Active rust, gouges and edge dings have to go but I like a blade with some pits, shadows, stains...you know, character! Some razors just look better that way.

Yeah, i removed all rust and tarnish and left the pitting and the fingerprint on the blade. The way I think bout it the razor has survived this long with one of the original owners fingerprints on it thats part of its history now and it would be a shame to just remove it cause i like a shiney blade.
