    Default Father's day

My Wife found the following razor at an obscure antique store one weekend and rather then waiting wanted me to have it before the Toronto meet and greet (this past weekend). Although I didn't get to go to the meet to have Holi clean er up for me I am taking it as an opportunity to learn how myself.

She bought the razor for me as it had the Ivory bits on it:

Her other find that she took a chance with was the following. I'm not sure where I would ever get a blade for it but she thought it was neat and I love her for that :-)

This is not my exact one but very darn close.

that top razor looks like an old Boker "King Cutter". i'm not sure what is on the tang though. it should clean up pretty well.
i'm sure some more experienced guys will chime in and correct me if i'm wrong.
    good luck with the restore.

Scales look like ivory. The tang looks like Mother-of-Pearl.

Faux ivory scales, synthetic MOP, and I agree, Boker King Cutter if my eyes don't deceive me. That should make a very fine shaver as it's light and made of good steel.

Actually that's what the dealer told my wife, Ivory scales and pearl tang. The pictures are not good as they were just from my phone but yes it is a King Cutter and blade is in pretty good shape. I disinfected it and gave a go at sharpening it. While I can say it won't pass any sharpness test I did shave with it and see a lot of potential.

The shave is the ONLY 100% conclusive test, the other tests have too many variables...congratulations!

Yup both of my Bokers are real fine shavers and your's certainly is a beauty. The razor on the bottom is a Durham Duplex. It's a shavette of sorts. Only problem is they've quit making blades for them (at least ones that were intended for shaving). Carpet knife blades will fit this razor but as you can imagine the edge on those starts off pretty bad and gets no better with use.

Thanks for the update on the beard trimmer thingy. Its too bad but I don't think I am going to go down the road of using a carpet knife blade on my face, call me crazy.
