    Default Kobar 7 day razors

    Hey there,

I just picked these up at a local knife show. They are carbon steel Kobar razors with each of the days etched into the spine. I am unsure if I should hone them up and use them or keep them stored as they are. Any opinions? I usually use my Dovo which suits me just fine, but these are just cool.

Strop one and take it for a test shave before you hone

To me part of their beauty lies in their utility. To just 'have them' would be like marrying a woman and not talking to her, or owning a corvette that you don't drive! I can also understand if they are an investment that you could cash in someday...but life is short for goodness sake, I can hear them crying "shave with me" all the way over at my place....

(Assuming of course that you know your way around a hone/send them out if needed, and treat them as tenderly as newborn fawns)

    Nice score by the way!

Use them. Otherwise why did you buy them?

Come on, now! If you had Clark Gable's Dusenberg, You'd drive it now and then, wouldn't you? Shave with them!

I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

I tried stropping one but it still dragged a bit too much for my liking, so they would need to be honed a bit. I've honed since I started shaving (so about 11 years) but still have quite a bit to learn. However, I think that I will carefully hone them and shave with them. :-)

    Thanks for all your help!

p.s. Have you guys seen anything like these before? I'm having a heck of a time finding info on them.
