Well, I am happy to report that I did not completely wreck the blade. On the other hand, I need to send it out to be honed up. And I need to practice my honing skills.

+1 on how great these shave. Joh Engstrom was in production from 1874 -1918 & the Dannemora mine is back in production. Gotta love Swedish steel :)
I have come across a fair number of these locally worn to a nub. It is nice to see what they are supposed to look like. I have one that is in reasonable condition, great shaver, but again its nice to see what they are supposed to look like.
What a beautiful specimen, I'd love to have such a frameback in my rotation.
