Thanked: 522Mokume Gane Custom
Today I received the next to last razor I will ever buy. The last one is on order. I have too many to maintain and it is time to stop buying.
As soon as I opened the box, I lathered up and shaved with it. Very nice shave from that one inch wide blade. I think it is every bit as heavy as my Robert Williams blade. These are the two biggest razors I have and although I have other one inchers, they are not as heavy in weight as these two.
The scales are called Mokume Gane and Max's website can provide you with a description of this very unique scale material. The blade is 1095 alloy steel @RH 60. I believe the wedge is G 10.
I think this one is a keeper. Sorry about the photo quality. I still need a light box.Last edited by mrsell63; 06-10-2011 at 06:02 AM.

Very cool razor! First thing that came to my mind was "love child of a Boker dreadnought wedge and a Friodur."

That would make a great title for a movie. Lets hope the movie isn't as long as the title.
I would like to add one comment regarding the finish in the hollowed grind section of the blade.
It appears from eyesight that the surface of the grind is vertically textured, however, when one runs one's fingernail horizontally across the grind, one discovers that there is absolutely no feeling of texture at all. I t looks textured and yet feels polished.
I don't know how Max accomplishes this but there is one thing for sure. He will never die from lack of compliments about his craftsmanship. This textured look and polished feel has me puzzled as well as pleased.Last edited by mrsell63; 06-10-2011 at 07:03 AM.

Show and tell...this should be 'show off and tell!'
What a fine looking razor, and yes, very reminiscent of a Friodor, only better! You've been Maxified! That Mokume Gane is awesome, is it Max's signature scale material?
Nice rock by the way, although the razor steals its light.
