I won this on eBay last week and it arrived Saturday. The blade is huge, a full 7/8" and thick. The grind appears to be a near wedge. The scales are artificial tortoise shell.

Hmm, I can't see a clear view, but that is a pretty unique looking spine. Is it a diamond spine? Very nice.

Here's a better shot of the spine. I've never seen another like it.

That's so if you get an itch while shaving, you don't have to break concentration to scratch it.

Nice, sorry I missed this one earlier.

That's one sweet blade. I love the tang. Very unique. Great buy!!

I've got a similar James Barlow, it's not a razor but a french microtome (beginning of the XX century). It's design to cut some very thin layer of meat in purpose to study the resulting slice with a microscope. So you've got to use the back with the hand.

One face of the microtome must be flat, the other have a grinding.
