Antique Mall Finds
Hey all I was in Ohio for a wedding this weekend and snuck away from the little lady just long enough to hit a couple antique stores. I found three razor a rolls (handle missing ), a 1912 GEM with the box and in great shape and a few razors that were in dire need of some love. The straights were quite rusty and pitted but I cleaned them up quite a bit with already. I'll take them through the paces with some hand sanding (probably out to 1500 before i go to the dremel) and see how shiny I can get them but here are some pictures so far.
The one at the top is stamped Marshes and Sheppard?? Sheffield with PONDWORKS marked below it (the scales look like horn to me)
The middle one is a Geneva Cutlery Co, it has no model name but the trademark looks like deer horns which looks pretty cool.
The last one is marked L Holzhauer's Sons Troy NY and has REX marked on the other side (scales look like bone maybe)
Anyway If anyone has some info on these blades that would be great I know Geneva's are great shavers and am excited to have my second one. The one marked Troy NY I have high hopes for since I haven't met US steel I didn't like but I've not heard of the Sheffield brand before. In any case enjoy the pics and more will be coming as I progress with them.

Ben,
A great score would be an understatement . I agree with John. Marshes and Sheppard are fantastic blades as are the Genevas. They take (and hold) on a fabulous edge. Congrats

Gee those are nice! The middle one is a Geneva? It looks to have a curved spine and a smiling edge, unusual to see in a Geneva! Cool!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
