    I found it on Ebay and was particularly interested in it because it's possible to date it more precisely than most razors. The
    company of Otto and Reynders was intact only between 1860 and 1875. That meant it was at least Civil War era and perhaps
    used in the war itself although this cannot be proven.

    It wasn't clear from the photo how large it actually was because it is much longer than normal razors and this length made it
    appear not as wide as it is. It does measure 11/8 at its widest and weighs out at 5.7 ounces on an accurate postal scale while
    the large 8/8 and 9/8 Wade and Butchers weigh in comparatively at 3.6 ounces. I have shaved with it, and there is a thread on
    that as well. It was quite an experience, and I did survive and got a fine shave.
