Default Help! What is this? Gillette?

So a friend of mine texted me a pic of this at a antique shop and asked if I wanted it, so I said sure. The pic she sent me was small and grainy so i assumed it was a Ball end Tech, much to my surprise I got this thing. It has a serial #704389, the serial stamp is the same as my 1904, so is the spacing of the comb teeth and everything else about the head. It is super heave because of the 3 piece design, and is a very dark finish over brass? I do not know if it is extremely tarnished silver as a finish? It also is quite dirty.

Also via the wear it seems to be veeery old.

    Help!

That is really nice. My next DE is going to be an open comb. I need friends like that. Although I did get a 61 Fatboy for my birthday from my Dentist. His dad was a barber and he used it when he traveled to nursing homes to give haircuts and shaves. It is my fourth Fatboy, and one I will never part with.

That may be an 'American Button Co' Gillette. Somewhere around 1911 the Gillette Co contracted with American Button Co to make fancy razor handles. They usually came in a matching razor case. IIRC the top cap would normally have the Gillette logo in an elongated diamond along with the serial #.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks for the info. This one does not have the Gillette logo, but the serial is the same font and striking depth.
