    Default Brand? Gillette. Made in? U.S.A. Year?? Type?? Help? yes please

    Just bought my first DE. I know it's a gillette and it is made in the usa and i bought it for $5,00. any extra info is a bonus for me.

    I cleaned it but it still smels funny gonna give it a go today and check out how it shaves. I hope it shaves nice. Normaly i shave whit a SR but i wanted to give a DE a go. Already many thnx for any info you can give me. Also any tips for getting the smell of the razor away are wlcome.

    IIRC that is known as a 'ball end tech'. If you google 'Gillette dating guide' you might find a site with serial #s and the dates related. Soaking old DEs and straights in Scrubbing Bubbles (the pump, not aerosol) has worked well for me in cleaning old razors. Soft toothbrush and Q-tips too. Enjoy your shave.

    There should be a number stamped on the inner side of the bottom plate (opposite side from that which is shown in picture), what is it?

    It's a Gillette "Old" and it dates to around 1917-1928. The comb plate doesn't look original.

    I can't find a serial number any where on the DE. even not on the inner side of the bottom plate. but if it is like johnmrson says the comb maybe not original. Already many thanks for the info
