Default Local finds - Summer '11

It's been a while since I posted to the 'Show and Tell'. I've been busy with restorations and have been fitting my own restores and honing in when I can. All of these just needed a cleaning and honing. All are cleaned and I few still need to be honed when I find the time. The razors in Genco display case were from purchases in the past and were probably posted here. The are all Genco except one that is a Geneva. The Genco case and razors not in the case were local finds over this summer. If anyone would like a better picture of any of them just ask. Sorry for the crappy picture. The layout didn't fit in our light box. Here is a list of the makes but I don't think they are in order of the picture.

    4 J.R. Torrey
    3 Joseph Rodgers
    2 Genco
    1 W&B
    1 Boker King CUtter
    1 Garibaldi
    1 Osgood Brey
    1 Clauss
    1 Figaro
    1 F.H. Loeffer
    1 B. J. Eyres Co., Late Greaves
    1 $2 natural coticule

I need to move to an area where I can call something like this "local finds". The only thing I find locally is a lot of antique shops with no straight razors....must be that Dllandry has been there first!

You are picking in tall cotton, compared to my area! Very nice razors. I have a bag full of recent antique store finds, but most are going to take quite a bit of work before I would show them. Will post as I get them cleaned up. In the bag are a Dubl Duck satin wedge, Sutliff & Co., Alleghany Instruments, Union Cutlery, Boker, C.V. Heljestrand, Jonathan Crookes, C-Mon Blackie, and a W&B Bow. All in need of much restoration. Wish I had the family help with restoring that you do, Joe!

Thanks but for the $2 invested in it I think I'll keep it. This one may be a bit too small for my likes but I may take it for a spin once in a while just to play with it. I'm looking at it as more of a collector's piece than a tool in my honing arsenal. Finding them on the cheap is always fun. This one is the 4th or 5th we found locally for under $5.

My entire summer haul from visiting all of the local flea markets/antique stores is 1 victory razor. I think I need to move.

Yess, the middle black one is a W&B. There is a crack in one scale at the spacer. I may rescale it some day but the crack is stable and I like having it with the original scales for a while. #6 is a Genco that looks to be rescaled. Sorry for the fuzzy pictures.
