Giesen & Forsthoff Adoration AX
Actually I found two razors at a local antique store. One was a Giesen and Forsthoff Adoration, the other a contract razor made for Missouri Barber Supply. There was no country of origin stamped on that one so I'm assuming it was made in the USA. I do know that Case mad a lot of contract razors and often times didn't put the company mark on them. I'm guessing they're both early 1900s to 1930. They're in wonderful conditon and a light honing on both and I've already used them and got a wonderful shave from both. I paid 58 dollars for the pair. Not a tremendous deal but I certainly don't think it was out of line. Pardon the picture quality, I'm still trying to figure out the best light and distances to take pictures of razors.
The one razor has Missouri B.S stamped on one side of the tang and the name Paul Jones stamped on the other. The blade and scales are both in great conditon. I think the scales are a fake ivory celluloid. I'm not sure what the bolsters are made of. I know they aren't pewter or sterling silver. Maybe aluminum. The scales are slender and have a very delicate feel to them.
The Giesen and Forsthoff is heavier than the other. On one side of the tang is stamped Adoration and hand forged. I'm not sure but I believe being hand forged may date it a bit earlier to earlier 1900s. The other side of the tang is stamped with the company name and logo and Solingen Germany. One side of the scales has a metal inlay that says "Adoration Hand Forged" I think the finish on the scales is what they refer to as "cracked ice".

I'd like to apologize for these pictures. I'd remove them if I could and upload better ones. I've taken some great photos with that camera but obviously close up stills are a different story. I'm working on the right light and a way to hold the camera still. I read the articles here on photographing razors and I promise my next ones will be better. That aside, the razors I acquired are still pretty cool.
