    Default Brooklyn Flea finds

Picked up these two guys this weekend for $25 total, I think its a good deal. The "griffon"xx without scales the tang appears to be ivory it has striations like wood grain and when poked with a red hot paper clip nothing happens. The Wade & Butcher looks like bone scales to me, as their are little pores ever once in a while. All and all not a bad find for just taking a little walk in beautiful weather. Iphone photo's are not the best but at least they are photos lol.

I like both. Good find. What are your plans for them?

Hells ya!! you got a good deal. Those Griffons are excellent, and no one will speak badly about the W&B.

    Great steal for 25...

    Have fun!!

While with the exception of the chip you can see on the W&B scales they are in great shape just the blade and the scales themselves need a little cleaning up so I am going to try to keep that as is. As far as the Griffon I'm not sure, if it does turn out to be an ivory tail/tang I guess have a set of ivory scales made for it. The part I liked about the Griffon, is most covered tang razors I have seen in my limited time with straight razors are just that covered but this one the tail itself has no metal its just the ivory, the metal ends at the pivot pin hole. If it does turn out to be ivory and I go the route of having some ivory scales made is their anything to be done about the yellowing that is on the Griffon so that it and the new ivory match?

Don't mistake those little 'pores' for cell rot.

The covered tang is tits, but hard to salvage. I had a pair I inquired about and it is all but impossible to restore them. Usually a full replacement of the tang cover is required, which guys like gssixgun have done with incredible results.

Have fun with them, they look like a great find.

    Best,
