Thanked: 443Sorry to hijack this--mods feel free to move this question to brushes. But I gotta ask how you like your horsehair brushes? How do they compare to badger for texture? There's a store where I live that sells big bundles of horsehair for crafts and I've wondered how that would work for shaving brushes.

Just chiming in to say that your shaving equipment looks top notch there, nice pictures.
roughkype, I, too, am curious about the horsehair brushes. From what I understand, horsehair used to be very common until some Anthrax scares earlier in the 20th century, maybe around the thirties or so. I'm not sure.
But they're supposed to be superior, so I'm very curious to hear, too.

Congrats on the shave gear! I have the exact same strop. Don't keep it in the bathroom. Mine started to cup slightly after about six months or so. Just enough to keep the middle of the blade off the center of the strop. Good luck!
I'm a sucker for a stamped tail. Giggity.

So...after all the comments, turns out that yes indeed my razor was not ''shave-ready''
sent it out to shooter74743 and I just got my razor back today in the mail... just wanted to send a shout out to : shooter74743 for having honed my razor and added some new items to my new collection !!!
i've attached pictures of my original Dovo Prima Klang which is now honed, as well as this curious blade which I know nothing about yet... " Souvenir "
*-*-*-*
this would be my official "first shave" with the proper equipment lol... my neck is a little irritated because i was terrified of slicing some veins but the face is looking pretty decent.
Im also pretty slow at this also so the soap was drying out... etc. I gotta watch out for my beard too making it more difficult for me but all in all ... it was a very nice experience this time... can't wait to shave again = )
check out ze pictures!

Thanked: 1936I see no blood, that's a good thing!
Your razor took on quite a sharp edge. You will notice that it will "settle" down after 6-10 shaves and will be a little smoother. Now you will be able to "enjoy the ride" like the rest of us. One problem though...you have facial hair & I put a voodoo curse on both razors & it will be gone soon...you have been warned!
If your lather is drying out on you, re-lather. When the heater kicks on in my house I have to watch my lather as well.Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
