Found Grandpa's razor in the storage unit for my Xmas present!
I knew I remembered his razor being in a box somewhere, so I went on a mission today. I went to the storage unit and located the razor in the very bottom box in the very back of the unit. It is a Romo 30 Solingen SR, in Awesome condition. The coffin is in almost perfect condition! Free Christmas present for myself!

Very nice find! What a family heirloom!! Get her honed up and shave with her. A lot of guys are shaving with their grandfather's str8s. My grandfather's str8s have been lost over the years but I'm hoping to pass mine down to my grandson.

I remember my granddad as having a straight razor - it had white acrylic or pearl scales. After he died, I asked my mother if she had it. she did not, and she asked her siblings but no one recalled it. I did receive his 1947 Gillette Arisocrat DE which I use from time to time.
I REALLY wish the straight razor had been found, but such is life.

You're very lucky to find it! I was very fortunate to have some passed down from as far back as the civil war. It's very gratifying and somewhat surrealistic to shave with a razor from another time period and from an ancestor and to think about what they were doing and thinking when they also shaved with the very same razor. Enjoy the shave, the nostalgia and the link to your past! I know I do!! Very best regards, Howard
PS: Welcome to SRP and hope you have many pleasant shaves and knowing you will find a great group of people here to help with your questions!!Last edited by SirStropalot; 12-26-2011 at 04:43 AM.

Hi jbraman,
could you fix the photo links so we can all see your lovely heirloom?

Sorry about that. I rearranged my photobucket albums. IT wouldn't let me edit the thread, but I'll include them in this post.

Ahhh,
thanks better.
Just remember people like me can own any number of razors but will never have an heirloom to enjoy.
I hope you value your beautiful piece of family history.
