Money's worth?
I just picked this up for $17 with shipping. I know it needs a little work, but do you think it was worth the price?
I was gonna recondition the blade myself, then have it pro honed. I hope the pitting isn't to bad, but I'm not experienced enough to judge through photos it it's trashed.
Either way, a Wade & Butcher under $20.
Thanks,
Bill

Thanked: 247Valuations aren't allowed here. But the thing about worth is, it's decided by the man doing the paying. You paid for it. Is it worth it?
Not trying to be a smart aleck here. But nobody can answer the worth question for you, even if they thought they could. It's your decision to make. I've seen W&B's sell for over 600 bucks, and for 6 bucks. I bet both guys felt like it was worth it when they bought it, and maybe still do.

Regularjoe is spot on about evaluations here, but looks to me like you have a nice looking blade with a future there. Could be some pitting, cant tell for certain by the photos. Cleaned up and honed properly, you glad to have it. I wish you my best and hope you show some pics when you get it all finished and have a shave with it. Best Regards Ken

Wasn't trying to get a valuation. I plan on keeping and using it. This will be my first SR, outside my shavette.
Basically just wanted to know if it looks "salvageable". I know it's hard to judge when your not holding the product in your hand...but I'm new to this world, and many of you have the knowledge and ability to judge a "workable" razor from a few pictures.
I will absolutely post before and after photos for all to see. This website, these forums, and all the users here have had a great influence in giving me the courage and knowledge to pursue this art.
Thanks to all that read this post, and for any advice you can share.

ebay wouldn't let me see the pic since the bidding was ended. Could you upload some pictures?

Thanked: 1262The pitting at/near the edge is a bit scary to me. You will not know until you try to set a bevel though.
