    Default Wade & Butcher 7/8 re-grind again a Max-special

    Hi gents,

This is just to show off the Wade & Butcher 7/8 re-grind 1/8 Hollow Sheffield steel vintage razor that I recently got from Max.

As I started with straight razor shaving, some two years ago, I quickly became aware that the Wade & Butcher razors are something special. A lot of users here, on the SRP and on other forums too, have been posting about these razors discussing the buying, collecting, restoring and usage of these historical blades. All this positive info comes from users and not from marketing or advertizing so it must be based on a true enthusiasm for the W&B brand!

Already last year I got a W&B 6/8 with Paua scales from Max. Having that first one, I too got in the passion for the W&B blades. There is indeed something that makes these old sheffield razors different. The fact that the blades are from the 1800’s and make people to want to own and use them. I wonder how much there still are these days. The fact that a thing considered a necessity in those years is nowadays coveted and cared for.

When a couple of weeks ago Max offered this Wade & Butcher 7/8, with scales of M3 Mokume Gane Titanium tapered with Bloody Jasper recon stone, I got week knees. Having the advantage of being in the ‘Old World’, Netherlands that is, I was able to get an early morning look (U.S.time) when Max offered this one on his web shop.

The W&B’s shape, size, grind, and the superb Max scales didn’t leave me untouched. I couldn’t resist any longer, the RAD just simply took over. I swiftly clicked the shopping-cart button and, phew, a sigh of relieve, I got it!

Two weeks later the post delivered the package and tada, there is was, the Wade & Butcher 7/8 in all its glory. After a day of admiring I gave it a first run on two-day whiskers in an easy Saturday morning comfort shave. Marvelous!

    Enjoy the pictures.

    Kind regards, vriendelijk groet,
    Paul
