Default Antique Store Score, Wade & Butcher

After running a few errands today, I decided to check out one of the local thrift stores. There was a lot of junk razors but I think I might have found the diamond in the rough, and for $20 no less

I know there are two small chips in the blade that I think will be repairable, but other than that.... it seems pretty cherry to me. The scales I believe are horn and in good condition.

What you see it laying on is a new Snakewood billet that I bought for making new scales. I think there should be enough wood there to make anywhere from 4-6 sets of scales. Im stoked

I feel I am now getting addicted to this community.

Nice find. Try giving the scales a good soaking in neatsfoot oil - I bet they will come up beautiful after that with minimum polishing. Shouldn't be any need to unpin her IMO. Enjoy.

Exactly what he said! Soak for 24 hrs in NO and then lightly sand up through 2000-4000 or even 8000 grit sandpaper wet with NO.

    Good find.

SWEET! That thing is screaming for a bit more smiling edge! It would be worth a try. You can always hone it up too. Sometimes, the neatsfoot oil is enough, applied and wiped down after a progressive steel wool scrub!

    I rest my case.
