Target Find
While this post may not be as cool as some of the others, but I was glad to have found this brush so I thought I'd share.
Since begginning my wet shaving journey I've been looking around in my area for any stores that carry traditional shaving supplies. So far I haven't had much luck. I'm sure there might be a specialty store that may have some supplies, but I just haven't found it yet. Even the places I thought might have some stuff, have turned out to be dead ends.
The one place that I have found is Walgreens. They sell styptic and VDH brushes, soap, and a brush, bowl, and soap set, but thats it. Yesterday though I was at Target and thought I'd check out their shaving isle, and came across this neat little brush.
Its made by a company called Shea Moisture, and is 100% badger hair. Which hopefully should be and imporvement over my VDH boar bristle. The handle is a little small for my liking but it seems like a nice little brush and was only $8.99. So I'm going to go try it out!

I've used this brush every day for over nearly two years and it works great! At first, the brush will be a little scratchy because of the way that the hair is cut to shape, but after a couple months the hairs will begin to split and feel even better. The handle is a little small compared to the VDH brush, but you'll get used to it in no time.

I love mine, about 2 years use.
Don't get hung up on hanging hairs.

I used that brush for awhile myself. I recently got an omega 49 boar brush on amazon for about the same price and honestly I like the omega better. That Shea brush is pretty good though. Better than the one in the AoS starter kit.

Thats awesome, I'm glad to hear others have tried the brush and liked it. I definitely know what you mean, I had the same experience. I soaked mine in hot-ish water for about ten minutes the night I bought it, in the hopes that it would be a bit softer for my shave this morning. Which it actually was, it was definitely not as scratchy as when I first bought it.
Well, I found that the Shea brush produced a superior lather to my VDH boar bristle, but I got significantly less lather out of it. This was most likely due in part to me not loading the brush with enough soap. I believe that since the VDH's bristles are a bit firmer it picks up the soap a little easier, and therefore I will need to spend a little more time loading my Shea brush than I normally do with my VDH. Although thats just a hypothesis. So far I really like my Shea brush, although I do miss the larger handle and stiffer bristles of the VDH, but as Red said, it will just take some getting used too, inasmuch as a little expirementation.

I received one of these as a gift from my son. He is a broke student so I knew he didn't spend much! I am very happy with it!

Gentlemen,
I have had one of these Shea Butter shave brushes for a number of years and find it a bargain.

I have a few nice brushes but I still find myself pulling this one out occasionally. I honestly think it's a really good brush just not as dense as I normally prefer. But hey, at <$10 what more could you want?

Thanked: 194for that price you can't beat it...I mean yeah it will be a bit scratchy at first but you could always grab a 2 dollar puck of williams and just run the brush through 50 or so test lathers to break it in without having to hit your face with it first
