French Rootbeer
I got a package from Swindon, United Kingdom today and I know that I took a huge gamble. I got 2 razors in what looks like pretty crappy condition judging by the 1st photo. One is marked 8118 Solingen (3/4 inch blade). The other is marked Arbenz Paris (7/8 inch blade). Both rusty as ______!
I was amped when I looked up Arbenz on SRP to see what posts came up. Just from reading the history of the company I figured that it was worth bidding on. More interesting to me is that Arbenz razors are rare (to this forum) so I would like to introduce another to the SRP family.
This will be fully restored by some master craftsman but I wanted to see for myself what lied underneath all that rust. I took some medium grit emory sand paper and quickly move onto 220 3M wet/dry. The surface rust disappeared almost immediately. I don't have the tools to remove the scales so there is some at the pivot pin that I can't really get to yet. Then I polished it with some Mothers. Big difference between the original condition and now
I definitely was concerned about what would be under the surface rust of the Arbenz after working on a W&B blade restore a couple of weeks back. There wasn't a whole lot of rust on the W&B but there was a ton of pitting under the dark spots after i finished sanding.

The one unique thing that I noticed about the Arbenz is that it's stamped A & W Arbenz. (3rd photo down)
The others that I have seen posted here are all A.D. Arbenz. If anyone knows anything about this
French straight razor/ American root beer collaboration please keep me posted.
