Default Finally found a hone at the antique store!

Found a beautiful vintage translucent Arkansas at he antique store yesterday for $5. It is a smaller 4 x 1.5 x .5 inch stone glued in the wood box. It is mostly a creamy white with a swirl of pink down the length of the stone. Not a speck of oil was on it as it was originally part of a draftsman kit. Lapped and bunished it las night and took a razor to it. Gave a great edge, much like my vintage surgical black.

Just had my second shave with a razor honed on this stone. Reaffirms my belief that the translucent/black Arkansas stones, when properly used, are among the best finishers out there.

Nice rock. I was going to try and Arkie soon, but have not found one to my liking.

Arks seem on the way to becoming the next Coti stones. Just 2 years ago, they were everywhere, and had for a dime. Have not seen a decent Arky all year. Great Find! I love old boxes too, so its double cool.

That's a nice score! I must make a mental note to visit some local antique shops.
