Thanked: 114My latest stub tail
Here is my latest acquisition. The seller described it as a John Sheppard made in approximately 1780. I’ve purchased razors from roughly the same era from the same source and knowledgable SRP members have verified the accuracy of the seller’s dating. Therefore I don’t have reason to question the seller’s description this time ….. except for one thing: the razor is a hollow grind razor, whereas the other razors I have from the 18th century and early 19th century are true wedges (see photos). The grind makes me think that the new purchase is younger than 1780. I’d love expert opinions.
In any event, the razor is a treat to play with. It was in reasonably decent shape when I got it and it may be all original??? I did nothing to the razor except hone it. It took a great edge and it was a blast shaving with it this morning, just like the rest are. Let me tell ya, it sure is a kick to shave with something +/- 200 years old!
Thanks for reading.

Really cool. I've seen this a couple times, I'm sure it was reground to be hollow at a later point in its life.
