lots of good advice here. Just please be carefull with the polish! I got a dubl duck the other week that was in mint condition almost with all the goldwash on it. I tried to remove a tiny bit of rust and removed almost half of all the goldwash. it was my first and only mistake with that polish!! post some pics when your done if you decide to clean it!

When using the polish on the tang and shank what should I use to apply it and rub it? Just a cloth or my fingers? When I used alcohol to clean it, I felt like i need something more rough to really take it off so I used an old face cloth that was a little stiff. Also, the scales are really tight on this particular razor. Whats the best way to loosen them up without making them too loose?

    Thanks again.

    -Stropping Young Lad
step one spray with WD-40 then a light oil to prevent any future rust, wipe clean.

give them a rub with MAAS or Simichrome Polish, I take a sheet or two of
common bathroom tissue and fold it small enough so when folded it makes
a nice pinch pad. Small drops on both sides and paying attention to the edge
give the razor a rub. I tend to pinch then pull in only one direction.

Most tight scales in old razors is rust inside the pivot. It goes away
spray with WD-40 followed by a drop of oil and wipe any excess away.
I often find that the excess carries red rust out... when the rust works
its way out some scales need a tap to tighten. I take advantage
of tight scales for the initial honing and stropping so that is the
    last issue.

If MAAS or Simichrome Polish discloses red or black rust I use 1k or
2k 3M wet dry paper. Again a pinch fold and mostly pull in one direction.

If and only if I find troubles to I pull out the Dremel. Mostly a felt wheel
and a bit of white polish stick.
