Thanked: 114Must be the angle. It was actually quite sturdy even before I installed the angle iron stabilizer feet. I only put the feet on because I’m anal about safety – I have two young kids running around. It would take a solid hit with the car to knock this thing over (not that I’m about to test that statement or anything )

Thanked: 102Beautiful Anvil: I know nothing about blacksmithing or metal work but I inherited an anvil which is marked "Peter Wright". It is suspose to be an excellent anvil. Looks very similar to the one you have. I gave it to my nephew who has a farm. I have always admired people who have the skills who can blacksmith. It is hot dirty work but some of the products they make are truly works of art.

It is hot and dirty work, tiring as heck.
And one of the most fun things I know.
Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
To spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the Last Day

Thanked: 884Crazy ain't it?
I used to think a buck a pound was outrageous..
Wish I'd bought a truck load of them and Hay Budden's now. LOL
A friend of mine has his grand father's old Peter Wright shop anvil. It weighs a bit over 500lbs and is HUGE! His grand dad ran a smithy "back in the day".
Like me, he got his butt busted by his grand pappy for beating on his anvil with a hammer too.
