8/8 Wade and Butcher with Barbers Notch
Of course we all have seen these before. i am happy to add her to the family. As I learn more from all of you wonderful people at SRP certain things stand out as my straight razor collection grows. Even though I don't shave with them I like the look and heft of wedges and I love blades that are 8/8's and up. This blade fufills those requirements and with the knowledge gained the scales look to be in great shape as does the hardware. Once you get a quote to replace scales, salvaging the existing ones comes interestingly important. Other point to note is that this blade seems to have a slight "s" shaped edge. Asthetically I think it looks cool but is this a problem for people who shave?
In a half year of collecting I think this is razor 29 or 30. I am starting to lose count. Does anyone else make their bed just to have spot to lay out their razors and stare at them for hours? Opening and closing them, then lining them up by size. Next you pick out your favorites, put all the others away, then continue to stare at your favs for another hour. Painstakingly studying them. Deciding who you might ask to restore them. The next thing you know, you wake up bleeding because you fell asleep on your bed with your favorite 8/8 W&B straight razors open.
Happy to share another W&B with you wonderful people at SRP. Everyone that I have had the pleasure to interact with so far has been totally awesome. Thanks

The sort of S shape is known as a frown. A frown can create problems for shaving so we hone them out and create a smile. Why aren't you shaving with your wedges ? Are you shaving with hollow grinds ? Anyway, seems you need to go to straight razor collectors anonymous. Send me a PM and I'll let you know where the next meeting is.......

LMAO So my new found razor is defective. I must throw it away or commit Hari Kari with it for dishonoring SRP!
I shave with electric clippers. Unfortunately I have very sensitive skin and I am prone to scarring from cuts so I think that I have to shy away from actually putting sharp objects on my face. It's like being a vegetarian that collects hamburgers....LOL

OK. It is like a 69 Grande coupe. Some ass...ole has put a 351 M from a 76 Elite in. It leaks oil and won't get a scratch to save it's life, but you still try to pick up chicks with it. Cops are suspicious until they hear the retarded camshaft blubber, They ignore your attempts at a downright hairy scratch with your yellow traction bars hangin down. Your Holley carb leaks gas from the stripped out threads in the float adjusters your buddy "sealed" with teflon tape. The shifter Bushings(lack thereof) wobbles on your fine FMX tranny and the front tires are camber-challenged, as you run Micky Thompson N50-15's in the back on Cragar SS's.
Breadboard the thing and hone it with 4 layers! Go Like hell!
Sorry! Mustang analogy, Brother! Could not help it! It has lotsa meat! It can GO! Good Luck!

It is not at all unusual for razors of that period to have uneven hone wear. As sharptonn said, the frown isn't that bad and if you wanted to send it out for honing it could be corrected with a bit of elbow grease and skill. If you're not shaving with them it probably doesn't make any difference .... unless it makes a difference to you aesthetically. Anyway, it is a cool old 'barber's use' and they are highly sought after by razor mavens like ourselves.

LMAO.
I only understood half of what you said but I laughed the whole way through. My dad is a big Mustang enthusiast...LOL He loved the older 71 - 73's but I love the 64 1/2 - 66. He used to tell me about the different engine swaps and putting different heads on this or that. Moving the battery to the trunk for better weight distribution and different rear end swaps. Maybe when I trade all of my razors in I will be able to afford the one I want..65 fastback. I love that post. It's cool when others appreciate the humor.
Well spoken kind sir but what does breadboard mean?

HA! That was in response to the Mustang rant you put on my Bengall on the resto forum (loved it!) I am an old Ford rodder!
Seriously, That razor could be brought to the side of an old hone and the edge "smoothed out" into a nice smile. The wear on the spine could be a challenge, so a few layers of tape and some expertise would make a fine blade of it! It would take some work, but would be back in service, looking good and probably be a 7/8 shaver! ! Now that FMX tranny..........Forget it! HA!
