Default E.G Gustafsson 5/8 frameback Eskilstuna straight razor Sweden

I got this at an antique yard sale in a town called Ebayville. Great place. they have evrything. It's like a swap meet for overpriced stuff. I love it

This is what the listing read:

    E.G Gustafsson 5/8 frameback

Typical Swedish style frameback, with a thin blade & shank that has a "frame" mounted on the spine, for added strength & as a honing guide.
This model was primarily produced 1875-1895. The stamp on the tang places this razor in 1880-1889.
The maker E.G Gustafsson was a small firm, only Mr Gustafsson himself, his son & an apprentice.
Specializing in razors & surgical instruments.
The apprentice was a quite interesting young man, Johan Alfred Hellberg, that later started up his own forge that became the world famous JA Hellberg forge!

As you can see from the pics this razors has had some serious issues with rust & pitting.
I do not think it has seen much use though, the size is a good 5/8 & that is quite uncommon in these & the spine shows little hone-wear.
But as said, it has been really rusty!
Deep scarring & pits thru out. really bad around the pivot & shank.
However, there is absolutely nothing at the edge or near. It takes a sweet, sweet edge & shaves great. Have no fear about that.
This maker & even more so this blade model from this maker is very rare, hence I think it was worth restoring back to shave-ready.

Sits in original bakelite scales, re-pinned with NiAg pins & stainless washers. Sits nice & snug.

I have personally honed & tested this blade on my own mug & I found the shave very nice&comfortable.
Shapton Pro stones up to 15K & then further refined on 0.75CBN & 0.5ยต CrOx on nano-cloth yields a very sharp & surprisingly smooth edge.
The razor is cleaned with rubbing alcohol, stropped on linen & leather & lightly oiled for safe transport to You.

All you need to do when you get the razor in hand is to carefully rinse or wipe the oil off & then start shaving!

I def want to clean up the rust spots when I get her. I've learned alot of tricks from this forum so hopefully there's no permanent damage. All comments welcomed.

    Thanks

    Cheetah
