Bismarck 6/8 find
I've been looking at this at a local gun shop for a few months and finally got them to come down on the price a little. Hope to make a regular in my rotation out of it. The faux pearl section of the scales has a pretty bad warped spot and I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to buy the ebony Bismarck scales?

Thanked: 522Is the warp most prevelant on the inside of the scale or the outside? If it is the inside, you could pull the pins and sand the inside of the scale to reduce the warp to an acceptable level. Other than that, you can have this blade rescaled and also buy a Black scaled Bismark.
I have both a red and a black Bismarck and also a pre-war/pre-Dovo Bismarck. Hopefully, someone will come up with a good solution for you. Good luck.

The warped part is towards the outside. It doesn't effect closing the razor at all, purely cosmetic. Where can I buy the black ebony Bismarck scales?

Also how can one tell the difference in pre Dovo? From what I've found the current Dovo version has all the same markings as mine.

Thanked: 2027No help with dating it, but I think that would a pretty easy fix without unpinning.

I've always thought if I was ever to purchase a Dovo, it would be a Bismark. Congrats, it's a nice looking razor and hope you find a simple solution. Wish I could help.

Thanked: 480I have a solution... Leave it alone! If a small warp like that bothers you, how are you ever going to stomach a vintage Dubl Duck?

It doesn't bother me that bad, I have a W&B that I refuse to unpin because I don't want to disturb the almost 200 year old scales and I try to fit it in whenever I can. I just would prefer the ebony instead of plastic if I can get my grubby hands on them!
