2 Fatboys to Compare
When In a rush, I don't use a Str8. I learned that the hard way (by bleeding) and instead use a 1959 Fatboy DE. I really like the feel of the Fatboy and wanted to pick up another. The prices for nice razors has really jumped and I did not want to pay good money for junk. I thought about it for a few days and after seeing some really nicely restored Fatboys for more money than I wanted to spend, I figured I can also buy a piece of junk Fatboy and send it for restoration. I figured if I can get a Fatboy in NOS condition for under $100.00 I would be ahead of the game. I looked around on the Net and found a restoration place I thought did nice work.
I picked up one off Ebay for $19 dollars including shipping and sent it out for restoration. The Fatboy silo doors were stuck, the adjustment know would not turn and the handle was a bit rusty. I picked this one because it was very cheap and I wanted to see the quality of the restoration work. In total the restored Fatboy Cost $81.00. The picture is the restored 1960 Fatboy along side my 1959 Fatboy. The mechanics on the restoration is smooth and the plating seems to be top quality. Only time will tell with the plating so I'll put it into use soon. I don't think I could get as nice a Fatboy anywhere for $81.00.Last edited by Mvcrash; 07-04-2012 at 02:19 PM.

The restoration looks great, Jeff. When I saw the title, though, I have to admit I feared I was going to see this:
