    Default My collection... so far

Here's my collection so far. A Merkur Futur, a Merkur 15C, a Rolls razor, a Valet autostrop, an Ever Ready SE razor, a 1960's Gillette Superspeed flare tip, and a Wilkinson Sword 'cheap-n-cheerful' razor.

The Futur was my first purchase, after deciding that paying £8 for 3 cartridge razors was too much. As I ended up shaving my head with it (no kidding!), I figured that DE razors were for me. The 15C was my next purchase, followed by the Wilkinson Sword black plastic razor. Visits to antique fairs and 'junk shops' bagged me the Rolls razor, the "Ever Ready" and the Valet.

The Superspeed turned up at the local carboot sale, in a much worse condition than what it is now. Never have I parted with £2 so quick, and without question.

Welcome to SRP. Very nice collection you have there. Also great that you found what works best for you. With the extreme heat we've been having here in the US I've used a DE several times lately. I've been sweating so much the shave lather runs off my face and sweat runs into my eyes so shaving with a straight is more challenging. My son has a collection of DE's that I borrow from. I'm guessing his collection is somewhere around 50 razors, mostly Gillette. Good luck with your collection and wet shaving adventures.

Good going. Next is a straight and a strop!

Joed-I've got the same issue. This heat wave has me wishing for ac in my bathroom.

I do have a straight razor, but it needs professionally honing and sharpening.

I would've thought, albeit uncomfortable, that sweat would help with lubrication.

    Deegee,

Nah, sweat just thins out the lather and ruins the glide. Then it makes aftershave into a drippy mess.

I'd be happy to hone that blade for you. Free. pm me
