Default Burma Shave Signs: recent additions to the shave den.

Size: 23.0 KBThere are several Burma Shave websites with collections of their slogans. Since I live alone I am free to decorate the shave den any way I like. I chose a set of Burma Shave signs as my very first ever wood working project. They are crude, but fun. The mustache fabric over the towel warmer is new too. Found it while taking my mother to a quilt store.

Those are pretty cool!! I always did like Burma shave items. The way their slogan's were worded makes me think of Dr. Seuss!!

I have a book entitled "Burma Shave, The rhymes, the signs and the Times". It has all of the rhymes in it and a few others that didnt make it, there is also some good history of the company. It was a very small company but well known everywhere in the states.

I can remember riding across country with as a kid with my dad and watching for the next set of Burma Shave signs. Helped break the monotony.

It was a long way from Minneapolis to Fort Worth in the late 50's and early 60's.

They did pass the time. I remember them most on train trips with my Mom from Los Angeles to Kansas City, Mo in the
mid-50's during summers as she would go to visit her Mom and Dad.

    I've looked for inspiration
    both high and low
    but antique signage
    seems the way to go!

Great looking den. I love the nostalgia of the signs.

I have only seen a few sets of these signs that are left, but one set was on the way to work years ago...
