    Default Recent Antique Finds

    Hi all!

Thanks to ''Pandamonium'', I have aqquired these two Gillete razors. They were almost black until I shined them up & removed the rust spots. Any info on these would be helpful, the closest I could get to dating them was a guess that the first one is a 1938 Canadian Gillette Tech? (The 1932 stamped on the underside might be a patent #). I believe the latter of the two in the travel set might be a 1956 Gillette Flare Tip (date code B 2), but the rest of the kit somehow looks a lot older than that to me. Not sure if the razor matches the case. Please chime in if my dates or ID's are incorrect.

Nice looking razors, thank you for sharing them.
I always pass over safety razors, DE razors because I started with straights & that's all I have learned, But lately I have been looking into this area of the forum. I am going to start reading about these types of razors and take a closer look at them when I come across them.

Thank you, & you're welcome. I find the workmanship & detail in these old DE's to be amazing. Every one is different.

HEY! i recognize these... Im am slightly jealous of that travel set as i was thinking of picking it up, but alas, ive never shaved with a DE only ever straights. Still great finds, glad to give the owner some more business, ill keep ya posted on any new gear that comes into that shop. Very nice razors almost cant believe how good they look all polished up.

Thanks! (I even had to polish the talcum canisters and the blade cases!) I've now shaved with both of them. They both shave great, but I like the size of the handle & the weight of the Canadian razor much better. It's very easy to clean too, as it's not a TTO.
Much appreciate you keeping me posted.
