    Default Interesting flea market find.

I picked this up today for twenty bucks. I've seen Simmons Hardware razors before, but only ever barber's pet. I've looked and looked and can't find one like it. I'd love any information anyone could help me with as to approximate age.

It's got what seem to me to be bone scales. They're pretty yellow, even orange-ish in some areas, but they're definitely not any sort of plastic. Not sure what the wedge is made of.

What I like the most about it is the point. It's like a notch but with a spike point as well. I put a basic polish on it today and knocked all that rust off already. I almost can't wait to get it honed up and see how it shaves.

Thanks for looking and I welcome any input.

And a slightly crappy shot of the point, after polishing.

    Very nice!!
I've had a few Simmons Hardware razors, but I've never seen that one. Very little hone wear, it should hone up great!

I got out all honed I yesterday. I don't know it it's because I'm still improving with my honing or if it's just the blade or that it's a much more wedgy grind, being a quarter hollow or so, but that thing is a fantastic shaver. Really great shave off of it this morning. Just about every bit as good as my Wester Bros.. I believe. I'm really impressed with it!

Yeah thanks! I like it because I love barbers notches and I love spike points, I've never seen both combined like that. I like that it says English standard on one side and Germany on the other. And I love the bone scales too!
