Default A couple of new open combs

Picked these up at a garage sale today for $1 each. The gold one is a Gillette and has a small crack in the handle and some plating loss, but should be a great razor once cleaned. The silver one is a Schaffer. I know they don't make blades for it anymore but I couldn't pass up such a beauty. I may try to modify some DE blades to fit it just so I can try it out. Enjoy.

A buck each? Great deal! Make sure to post update pictures when you clean up the gold one!

Sweet Find! A ball-end New for a buck...can't be that.

How would you have to modify the blades in order to fit the Schaffer (good looking razor)? I'm not familiar with the razor...from the pics, the head seems to be pretty close in size to the ball end. Is it not? Or perhaps the head doesn't have a peg/stem/something to seat a double edge razor. Just curious...

I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow of the Schaffer and the type of blade it takes. The razor looks like a three piece, but it is a tto. When you twist the bottom of the handle, a bar comes out through the top, pushing the top piece up. The blade has to fit over the razor head and down into its seat. Hard to describe, but once you see it, it all makes sense.

I'm going to start hunting DE's down here in South Florida, in the antiques stores, next month. In the past I always overlooked them, never giving them a thought. If I find any of these blades, Theseus, I'll send them to you.

I guess you can still use them, if they are NOS.
