Default Packwood Straight Razor with carved spine and etching

Just won this on the Bay. It could of course be in better condition but I loved the detail on the spine. I haven't seen anything like it before.

    The description said:
A vintage Packwood straight razor with the sayings: I am good, I can't be better, I tell you by letter".
Blade has rust spots, handle shows wear; one side has a crack at the rivet and other side has a split as shown in the photos.

I was trying to find some info on the maker but it seems that the history is elusive. I will do my best with my limited resto skills to remove the rust and patina. Then I'll polish it up with Mothers, store it away and occasionally look at it on a bi weekly basis.

    Thanks

Ok I spoke too soon. i'm reading this thread that Wullie started not to long ago.

    http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...-packwood.html

    Apparently Henry T.Lummus owned one

Date 1828. Maker, unknown, Sheffield. Trademark, "Packwood." Inscription, "I am good, I can't be better, i'll tell you by letter." Handle black horn.

I win again! Hurray! It's amazing how much you can learn in 10 minutes...ha ha

Same here. I didn't even bother chunking a bid at it. I got one Packwood paint stirrer already.

And with just five easy payments of $99.95, you too can have a razor with a creepy cool riddle on the blade. =D

In all seriousness... What is it talking about? Is it straight razor humor?
It's just corn syrup... Warm, blood flavored, corn syrup ...
