Mystery Razor Identification Appreciated
Picked this razor up as is. Only cleaned off some grime. Absolutely no markings of any kind. It has:
Horn scales
Lead wedge
Silver(?) inlay with mother-of-pearl insert
Two bevels on front of spine
The odd thing is the tang is thinner just in front of the pivot. You can see this in the last pic.
It looks like a very well made piece.
Any help or ideas?

Thanked: 884That's a good looker.
I'm thinking it may be a re-grind.
The marks may have been buffed or polished off when that was done. Tang looks W&B 'ish but is hard to say for sure.
I'll bet it'll hone up and shave great.Member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, participant SE Asia War Games 1972-1973. The oath I swore has no statute of limitation.

Wullie may be right. OTOH, the first thing that entered my mind was a cutler in one of the big name factories made that one for his own personal use and took it home. Just speculating .....

Thanked: 884Here's pic of one of my re-ground W&B's. Not the best pic but it's the only one I have at the moment. The re-grinder ground the spine as well as the blade.
I've got another re-ground W&B also that had a similar spine treatment;

Some of those old marks were very faint even when new (W&B's particularly) - wouldn't take much to loose them during a regrind.
