Thumbs up Genco fluid steel fr: Ebay

Item number 150870699898 on Ebay was a great $22.00 razor. I forgot to take any pIctures before I removed patIna and honed. I thInk you could go to ebay and enter the Item number and see the pIctures though. any way lIke I was sayIng my method for removIng patIna was pretty sImple though I started by usIng lIght pressure wIth 220 grIt then by barely even any pressure wIth the same grIt. I dId thr same on all steps, as far as the pressure, then used 320 grIt, 400 grIt, 600 grIt, 800 grIt, and fInally 1500 grIt. Then I honed startIng wIth 1000 grIt nanIwa to set the bevel. then norton 4k - 8k. then hangIng haIr test (passed). then 10000 grIt to fInIsh. and camIllIa oIl. heres a couple of pIctures of my results. tell me what u thInk.Name: IMAG0107.jpg

Wow its a great shaver wxcept the squared tip seemed to dig in my face and neck. I got about 3 nicks with this bieng my first shave wirh this type of toe shape. Does anyone have any info on how to round the toe off or blunt it to fiz this without measing my honing strokes or action.
    Thank you,
    Swerve

Go light and ease off pressure with spike points..I love American steel..holds great super sharp n smooth edges IMO

You can mute that spike by dragging it right against the side of your hone verry lightly about 3 times. Or you can round it off with a DMT if you wanted. Now I realize my directions are garbage. But, I think if you googled muting a spike point, you might find a nice picture or better description.

    Nice job on the restore!

Genco's are awesome blades. I muted one on the windowsill one morning after it bit me. Worked great!

Gencos are great razors in general and the Fluid Steel model in particular. Hold a great edge.
